Often musical artists rise in stature churning out hit albums or sold-out concerts while some might still enjoy moderate success and some might just retire modestly after a point in their career.

Leaving the band in 2015, he immersed himself in studying the possibilities of Unidentified Flying Objects in our airspace. Currently a Lok Sabha MP, he also serves as a Minister of State for Environment.

“I took a break from touring, saw that my properties had cobwebs, so I sold them, and to my surprise, I made a huge profit,”

The ‘Ice Ice Baby’ rapper is still popular but only for that one nostalgic song. With some failed albums and even films, Vanilla Ice knew he couldn’t depend on music fully to pay the bills. Further, struggles with drug addiction were further melting his icy popularity. He turned towards real estate and gained some relevance out of his this with another profitable venture. A show called The Vanilla Ice Project did well enough to bring the artist back to the limelight. In this show, his real estate experiences are highlighted where he buys, renovates and resells homes.

‘James is a great guy with a pretty warped sense of humour, and this guy was dying to get into medical school. In fact, he was so intent on getting into medical school that he didn’t really even practice with us much – which is part of why he’s not our drummer anymore!’

Back in the 80s, there used to be a rock band called The Offspring. James Lilja toured with them serving as their drummer but he wasn’t in it for this life. He was pursuing a medical degree on the side and wanted to pursue medicine as soon as he can. As a 16-year old replaced him as drummer, Lilja went to the University of Pittsburgh. Today, he specialises in Gynaecologic oncology (the medical field focusing on the cancers of female reproductive system).

“I suppose I’ve always had a very genuine curiosity about religion,”

A multi-instrumentalist for The Communards, a British pop duo, Richard Coles is now Reverend Richard Coles. He took to religion after a drug-fuelled relationship with his musical life. He’s not only a priest but also occasionally serves as writer and radio show host. Another path-breaking aspect of his priesthood is that he’s openly gay, living in a celibate relationship with his partner. Rev Richard Coles is surely not your ordinary Church pastor!
